
Aria Young
Intern
Aria Young is an award-winning student journalist based in New York City. She is currently in her final year pursuing double B.A. in Journalism and Media, Culture, and Communications at New York University. Her audio story "What's In A Name" is the Grand Prize Winner of the 2022 NPR College Podcast Challenge. Aria has received various scholarships from UN Foundation-Girl Up, Spotify, NPR and The Deadline Club. Her audio work "Locals Call to Stop Chinatown Jail Plan" was recognized as the 2023 AAJA Student Excellence in Audio Storytelling Award Winner. Born and raised in Shanghai, Aria moved to the U.S. at age 17. Influenced by her immigrant experience, Aria practices journalism with empathy and kindness. As a multimedia journalist, she is drawn to stories about community, inclusion, and belonging. Aria is pursuing a career in documentary, audio journalism and podcasting.
