Thank you to everyone who made our town hall event at The New School on 10/18/12 a big success, especially our partners the Center for New York City AffairsGlobal Studies at The New SchoolAmericas Society/Council of the Americas, and Latino USA. And of course, the panelists:

  • María Hinojosa, moderator/host, journalist, Futuro Media Group
  • Jordan Fabian, journalist, political editor for Univision’s English-language website
  • Chung Wha Hong, executive director, New York Immigration Coalition
  • Mark Hugo Lopez, associate director, Pew Hispanic Center
  • Fernand Amandi, managing partner, Bendixen and Amandi Intl.

Thanks also to those of you who watched the livestream and sent your in questions via Twitter. That was a lot of fun and gave the talk a really interactive feel.

Maria Hinojosa of Latino USA kept everyone on point, and between the statistics, arguments and analysis there were some emotional moments. If you weren’t there or didn’t watch it live you can watch the entire program in the video below. Make sure to watch the end for a ninth grade DREAMer who asked what’s next for her if reform doesn’t go through and a self professed “gringo Republican” who made a case for diversity within his party.
